too close to the wind

sails tied down for good ~
dinosaurs in the landscape
mere decoration

windmills flail around
sail too close to the wind
they don't sustain

they still grow grain, yet
arms wave in the wind in vain
just for show now
Written for a prompt at CarpeDiem

Beautiful painting. Your words carry a yearning for lost usefulness.

The image is great ... but the haiku series is a beauty .. so full of melancholy and alas so true.

Living in an area where agriculture was changing or being plowed under I feel the impotence of the old windmill; it's hard work little regarded its stories never heard.

Your watercolor is stunning

But there is still much work to be done

It's a pity, but you are right the blades turn only for tourism functions.
