melancholy

from ignorance
crossing the river on a raft
to enlightenment

my mind goes back
to a summer now long past ~
tears fall unbidden

One from the archives:

“Is it because we know we are mortal
that we prize what’s ephemeral
beyond rubies?
Is it because we see the rose fade
that we furnish her dropped petals
with dignity?

How tenderly we cradle the dying
like Snowwhite in her glass cage
Not quite gone but going
as we know we ourselves are going
with or without the dignity
that Nature sometimes gifts”.

I know when one of my haiku is good, because I smile. I am smiling at yours about the day being pushed along by the storm. Wonderful!

Thank you so much. Know what though? I am always a bit uncomfortable that I may have borrowed a phrase from somebody without realizing it. Some lines of others' stay in one's head for so long that you are sure they are your own.

I so enjoy dropping by here when I can catch up...tears go unbidden...your post resonates on so many levels...

in the garden
the day is pushed along
by the storm

calmer among flowers
torrential rain in my soul
